Bharat Bhushan, who earlier served as the President of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, has now been appointed as the Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Film, TV & Theatre Development Corporation (FDC). The post had remained vacant for the past two years, and the official announcement was made on Saturday.

Several names from the Telugu film industry had been doing the rounds over the last couple of years for this position. However, the Andhra Pradesh government has now chosen Bharat Bhushan for the role.

With a deep passion for cinema, Bharat Bhushan has been actively involved in film distribution for over two decades, delivering several successful films to audiences. He also founded Bharat Infra, a company that has generated employment opportunities for many. During his tenure as President of the Telugu Film Chamber, he earned recognition for effectively representing the industry before the government and addressing issues ranging from small-scale concerns to workers’ welfare.

Known for his proactive approach, Bharat Bhushan has consistently supported workers, distributors, and producers by taking necessary legal and administrative initiatives whenever challenges arose. He was also elected as Vice President of the Film Federation of India, further strengthening his position in the industry.

With his appointment, the Telugu film industry now has a dedicated channel to approach the Andhra Pradesh government for its concerns. Earlier, industry members had to directly approach ministers or officials, but they can now route their issues through the FDC Chairman.

This move indicates the government’s renewed focus on the growth and development of the cinema, television, and theatre sectors in the state. Bharat Bhushan has now been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the corporation towards greater progress.

For context, producer Dil Raju currently serves as the Chairman of the Telangana FDC, and under his leadership, the government introduced the Gaddar Telugu Film Awards. It remains to be seen whether the Andhra Pradesh government will revive the Nandi Film Awards, which were discontinued a few years ago.
