Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, one of the most respected filmmakers in Indian cinema, is back in the director’s chair at the age of 94. The veteran, who once worked as an assistant director on the classic Mayabazar, continues to inspire with his energy and passion for filmmaking.

This new project is being produced by Nag Ashwin under the prestigious banners of Vyjayanthi Movies, led by Ashwini Dutt, along with Swapna Cinema. The makers have now officially announced the film’s title and release date.

Titled Sing Geetham, the film marks the return of a filmmaker whose career spans nearly seven decades and close to sixty films across multiple languages. From the iconic silent film Pushpak to the pathbreaking sci-fi classic Aditya 369, Singeetham has consistently pushed creative boundaries. His collaborations with Kamal Haasan — such as Vichitra Sahodara and Michael Madana Kama Rajan — remain benchmarks of innovation.

With Sing Geetham, he brings to life a dream project, envisioned as India’s first musical fantasy — a genre-blending cinematic experience combining music with magical realism.

The film is set in a mysterious and isolated village and follows a young man named Prathap, whose search for opportunity leads him into a world where nothing is as it seems. As he gets drawn into forces beyond his control, he finds himself caught in a conflict between progress and preservation — one that tests his beliefs and purpose.

The film features a young cast including Ayaan, Ahilya Bamroo, and Shalini Kondepudi, who are said to deliver impressive performances with effective comic timing. Singeetham once again showcases his ability to blend fantasy with humour through a unique narrative style.

Technically, the film appears strong, with cinematography by Ankur C bringing visual depth to its imaginative world, while Devi Sri Prasad’s music adds a distinctive tonal quality. Production design by Aravind Mule further enhances the film’s creative setting.

With high expectations following the title teaser, Sing Geetham is set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 11.
