Akhil Akkineni’s latest film Lenin has entered its second week and continues to perform steadily at the box office. Despite the grand release of Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey, the film has managed to hold its ground. Nearly half a dozen small films were also released last Friday, but most of them went unnoticed from the very first day. Amid this competition, Lenin posted impressive numbers over its second weekend.
On its 10th day, the film collected Rs 3.22 crore net from 1,865 shows, a healthy number for its second Sunday. With this, the film's total India net collection has reached Rs 43.92 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 50.40 crore. In the overseas market, Lenin has collected Rs 10.20 crore gross, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 60.60 crore after 10 days.
The film has been performing particularly well in Andhra Pradesh centres such as Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Kakinada and a few other areas compared to the Nizam region. Lenin is an important film for both Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse, as the success has given both actors the much-needed commercial breakthrough they had been waiting for.
Akhil made his debut a decade ago with Akhil, directed by VV Vinayak. Although the film failed at the box office, he continued experimenting with different genres over the years. With Lenin, he has finally delivered the commercial success he had been chasing. The film is jointly produced by his father Nagarjuna and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, while Murali Kishor Abburu directed it.
Bhagyashri Borse, meanwhile, made her Telugu debut opposite Ravi Teja in Mr Bachchan, directed by Harish Shankar, but the film failed commercially. She acted in a few more films and earned appreciation for her performances, but success eluded her until Lenin. The film has finally given her the commercial break she was looking for. Both Akhil and Bhagyashri turned emotional during the film's success meet held after its release.
The makers later organised a grand public success event in Guntur to celebrate the film's performance. On Monday evening, they are set to host another event titled 'Lenin Blockbuster Vaibhavam', where the Akkineni family, including Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, and Akhil Akkineni, will share the stage to celebrate the film's success.
