SS Rajamouli is currently directing Mahesh Babu in his next project, which is titled Varanasi. Along with Mahesh Babu, the film also features Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Prakash Raj in key roles.

Speculation around the film’s release date has been doing the rounds for a while, and now the buzz has intensified. According to hoardings that have surfaced across Varanasi city, the makers are planning to release the film on April 7, 2027.

Rajamouli has been shooting the film since last year, and sources suggest that he aims to wrap up the shoot by August this year. “Once the filming is completed by August, he will shift his complete focus to post-production, which involves extensive VFX and graphic work,” said a source close to the project.

The film is jointly produced by KL Narayana and SS Rajamouli’s son, SS Karthikeya. So far, the makers have officially announced only a few members of the cast. Apart from unveiling the film’s concept a few months ago, no major updates regarding the storyline or additional cast have been revealed.

A formal confirmation from the makers is yet to be released.
