On Monday, former actress and animal welfare activist Renu Desai voiced against the killing of stray dogs. She stated that harming stray animals is inhuman and unacceptable, stressing that animals too have a right to live. During her interaction, she also drew parallels with other social issues, pointing out how people often ignore road accidents, helmet safety, and cleanliness in public spaces, yet react selectively when it comes to animal welfare.
Soon after her statements went viral, speculation began circulating on social media suggesting that Renu Desai was planning to enter politics. Addressing these rumours, she took to Instagram to set the record straight. “I am not joining politics. Please stop spreading rumours. I am happy working with my NGO, and whenever I get time, I focus on social service,” she clarified.
Renu Desai also responded to claims that she had shouted at members of the media during the press meet. Denying the allegations, she explained, “A random person, around 55 years old, suddenly started shouting at me. My security personnel and NGO members intervened and stopped him. I did not shout at any media person, and I have complete respect for the media.” She also urged media houses to stop circulating misleading thumbnails suggesting otherwise.
Finally, Renu Desai requested that her personal life not be dragged into the discussion. “This issue has nothing to do with my personal life. I request everyone to stop writing about it,” she said. She also addressed comments suggesting that Pawan Kalyan left her due to her aggressive nature. “My press meet was purely about animal welfare and humanity. It has no political agenda and is not for any personal gain. Please stop making personal remarks,” she concluded.
