The upcoming Telugu web series D/o Prasad Rao Kanabadutaledhu will premiere on ZEE5 on February 27. The series stars Rajeev Kanakala, Udaya Bhanu, Vasanthika, and Sriram Venkat in prominent roles. It is produced by KV Sriram under the South India Screens banner and directed by Krishna Poluru.
Rajeev Kanakala plays the titular role of Prasad Rao and describes it as one of the most significant characters in his career. “I’ve played many roles over the years, but this one stands out as a milestone. The emotional transitions, modulation, and dialogue delivery are very different from what audiences have seen from me so far. Director Krishna presented me in a refreshing way,” he said.
According to Rajeev, the series unfolds with consistent tension and unexpected twists. “It’s layered, intense, and emotionally grounded. Viewers will remain engaged till the very last moment,” he added.
The actor also spoke about performing in the Nellore dialect for the series. When asked whether it was challenging, he said the difficulty was minimal after the initial stages. “Director Krishna was present throughout the shoot and has a strong command over the dialect. The team was very clear about the character from day one. Once I got into costume — along with the walk and mannerisms — everything felt natural.”
Opening up about why the role is personally special, Rajeev said the father-daughter emotional core deeply resonated with him. “Like anyone, I get emotional when I think about my parents. And as a father of a daughter, there were many moments in this story that I personally related to. That’s why this project is very important to me. Nowadays, we mostly stay connected through phone calls, but whenever I get time, I tease her, irritate her, and enjoy those little moments,” he shared.
Udaya Bhanu plays a powerful police officer in the series and expressed excitement about the release. “I’ve been waiting for the audience to watch this. Though the shoot moved quickly, we made sure the emotional depth was preserved. As a mother, several moments in the story felt very personal,” she said. She added that portraying a police officer had been a long-standing wish and that the role allowed her to showcase both strength and vulnerability.
Vasanthika, who gained recognition with 90s – A Middle Class Biopic, plays the daughter in the series. She believes the emotional bond between father and daughter will strike a chord with audiences. “For many women, their father is their first hero and lifelong protector. Not just me — every daughter will connect with this character. Rajeev sir is very jovial on set, and there is so much to learn from his performance variations. Having him around always kept the atmosphere lively,” she said.
With a strong emotional narrative centered on family bonds, suspense, and layered performances, D/o Prasad Rao Kanabadutaledhu promises to deliver an intense and heartfelt viewing experience when it streams on February 27.
