Ravi Teja and Priya Bhavani Shankar play the lead pair in Irumudi, which was released on Friday. The film opened to positive word-of-mouth, and its three-day collections have come as a big surprise, with the film emerging as the best opener of Ravi Teja’s career. On Day 3, the film collected ₹18.80 crore net in India, registering a 16 per cent jump from Saturday. With this, the film’s three-day weekend collections in India stand at ₹50.30 crore net, while the gross collections stand at ₹58.37 crore. In the overseas market, the film collected ₹3.50 crore on Day 3, taking its three-day overseas total to ₹13.50 crore. With this, the worldwide gross for the first weekend stands at ₹71.87 crore. The occupancy on Sunday also witnessed a big jump, reaching 85.5 per cent.
These are huge numbers for Ravi Teja and mark the best performance of his career at the box office. According to a source, the film has already reached its breakeven point in just three days, with India net collections standing at ₹50.30 crore for the first weekend. The source also revealed that the film was made on a budget of around ₹40 crore.
Irumudi released on Friday and received positive reviews from both critics and audiences. The story revolves around the bond between a father and daughter, with Ayyappa Deeksha serving as the backdrop. Most of the film was shot in Sileru in Andhra Pradesh, and the natural locations have helped the film create an authentic atmosphere.
Ravi Teja, who has been looking for a commercial break for the last few years, has finally got one with Irumudi. Senior actor Sai Kumar plays an important role as Guruswamy in this intense family drama, which Shiva Nirvana has narrated in a gripping manner. Interestingly, the film is performing strongly in the Telugu-speaking markets but has not received the same response in other states, particularly Tamil Nadu. The Tamil version was also released, but the response there has been lukewarm. The Tamil version collected only ₹4 lakh on Day 3.
