The romantic drama Chennai Love Story, starring Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya, is all set to premiere on OTT. Ravi Namburi made his directorial debut with the film, while SKN and Sai Rajesh Neelam jointly produced it under their Mass Movie Makers and Amrutha Productions banners. Though the film received mixed reviews, it grossed nearly Rs 60 crore during its theatrical run.
The film was released in theatres on July 26 and opened to good numbers. Both Sri Gouri Priya and Kiran Abbavaram were appreciated for their performances, with Sri Gouri Priya receiving particular praise for her portrayal of Nivi.
Now, the film is set to premiere on Sony LIV, allowing audiences to watch the romantic drama from the comfort of their homes. Celebrated for its refreshing take on first love and emotionally resonant storytelling, the film will make its digital premiere on August 21. After winning audiences in theatres with its heartfelt narrative, soulful music and charming performances, the romantic drama will now be available to viewers across the country in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Sai Rajesh, apart from producing the film, also provided the story. Despite being a debutant, Ravi Namburi handled the subject well and presented it in an emotional manner. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Chennai, the coming-of-age romance follows two young hearts as they experience the excitement, innocence and heartbreak of first love, discovering that growing up is as much about finding yourself as it is about finding each other.
“Chennai Love Story is a very special film for me because it captures the innocence, excitement and emotions that come with first love. The love and support audiences gave the film made this entire journey incredibly memorable for all of us. I’m excited that the story can now reach viewers across different languages and regions with its digital premiere,” said Kiran Abbavaram about the OTT premiere.
He added that he hopes audiences connect with the characters, revisit their own memories of love and growing up, and enjoy the film as much as the team enjoyed making it.
“One of the most beautiful things about Chennai Love Story is that it reminds us of a phase of life we never really forget — our first love. The response we received in theatres was overwhelming, and I’m deeply thankful for it. I’m thrilled that the film is now coming to digital, where it can find a new audience and perhaps become a part of someone’s own memories and conversations,” said Sri Gouri Priya.
Chennai Love Story will be streaming from August 21 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, only on Sony LIV.
