The animated follow-up to the Baahubali films, Baahubali: The Eternal War, has been selected for the upcoming edition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The film will be screened as part of the Work in Progress (WIP) section of the festival, which has previously seen the likes of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) and Flow (2025).

Speaking to CE, Director Ishan Shukla, says, "Being in the WIP program puts our film in front of people who care deeply about the craft. It builds visibility, yes, but more importantly it signals that we're on the right path in our filmmaking journey. Many of the past WIP titles like Flow, Flee, and Spider-Verse went on to define what animation can be. We're honoured to be in that company."

Speaking about the presenting the film in an animation-only festival, Ishan says, "It's an opportunity to share our artistic journey and exclusive footage with the animation community while the film is still being made, which is really exciting! To present Baahubali: The Eternal War here and share how we're weaving Hindu cosmology into an animated spectacle is an honour. We're bringing exclusive footage, artwork, and a story of collaboration that spans the world."

Actor Prabhas, who reprises his role of Amarendra Baahubali from the live-action films, took to social media and wrote, "It’s amazing to see the world of Baahubali being celebrated on such a massive global platform. Huge congratulations and best wishes to Shobu garu, Ishan Shukla and the entire team! Jai Maahishmathi!"

Ishan and Sowmya Sharma have written the story for Baahubali - The Eternal War. Scott Mosier has written the screenplay, with Deva Katta and Madhan Karky writing the dialogues. Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni are producing the film. Arka Mediaworks is the banner backing Baahubali - The Eternal War.
