Pawan Kalyan's OG is currently having a successful run in theatres, earning over Rs 140.20 crore in India. Directed by Sujeeth, who last helmed the 2019 Prabhas film Saaho, the film revolves around a fictional gangster Ojas Gambheera who resurfaces seeking vengeance against rival crime lords. The film has been praised for its 'mass' moments and utilisation star power. However, many who had watched the film drew comparisons to Ajith's Good Bad Ugly which was released earlier this year.

Clarifying the same, director Sujeeth, in an interview with Idlebrain noted that he had created OG long before Adhik started working on Good Bad Ugly. He also mentioned that he knew the director since his first film Trisha Illana Nayanthara. "I released the teaser of OG before he even put pen to paper for Good Bad Ugly. I know him very well. Adhik genuinely loves me; he sent me a long message when I made Saaho. He texted me that he’s genuinely the biggest fan of my work. I have known him since his first film, Trisha Illana Nayanthara. I had even given him feedback for the film. So, I know he didn’t even start writing the story then," he said.

While many similarities are present, Sujeeth brushed it aside, implying that they may be purely coincidental. "When I shoot with a katana, they did it too. They even released a song called 'OG Sambavam'. When their material first came out, and mine comes later, it causes damage to me. But I’m happy for Adhik that he got this film after Mark Antony. And I like Ajith too," he added.

Also starring Emraan Hashmi in his Telugu debut, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy and Priyanka Mohan in prominent roles, OG was released in theatres on September 24 to mixed reviews from audiences and critics. Despite that, it has been winning a lot of praise for its hero-elevation action set-pieces, stylish cinematography (by Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa) and a thumping soundtrack by Thaman S.

Adhik Ravichandran's Good Bad Ugly was released in theatres in April this year. Apart from Ajith, the film also saw Trisha, Arjun Das, Sunil, Prabhu, Prasanna, Karthikeya Dev, Priya Prakash Varrier, Jackie Shroff, Shine Tom Chacko, Tinnu Anand, BS Avinash and Raghu Ram in the lead cast.
