The buzz around Prabhas’ upcoming period action drama with director Hanu Raghavapudi, just got bigger. According to reports, Abhishek Bachchan has been approached to play a key role in the much-anticipated project, with discussions said to be underway.
If the reports hold true, this could mark Abhishek’s big entry into Telugu cinema. The idea of him sharing screen space with Prabhas has already set social media abuzz, as Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas’ combo in Kalki 2898 AD worked well. The project is backed by Mythri Movie Makers.
Unofficially referred to as Fauji, the film is based during World War II and is set to blend romance with large-scale action. In leaked set photos from last year, fans spotted vintage cars, period buses, and even glimpses of the shoot reportedly taking place at Hyderabad’s Alipore Jail, once a prison for Subhash Chandra Bose.
Backed by Vishal Chandrashekhar on music, Sudeep Chatterjee handling cinematography, and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao in the editing chair, Fauji reportedly carries a mammoth budget of Rs 400 crore. The film marks the debut of Iman Vellani as the female lead stars Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher in crucial roles.
For Prabhas, who was last seen in Kalki 2898 AD, this film adds to an already packed slate that includes Salaar 2, Spirit, The Raja Saab, and the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. Abhishek, meanwhile, was last seen in Kaalidhar Laapata, a critically noted drama directed by Madhumita.
