Teja Sajja’s latest outing Mirai is showing steady momentum at the box office. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 14.5 crore (nett) in India on its second day (Saturday), a growth of around 11.5% from its opening day tally of Rs 13 crore.

This takes Mirai’s two-day total to Rs 27.5 crore (nett) across India. The Telugu version continues to be the dominant market, contributing Rs 11.5 crore on day two and Rs 22.65 crore over two days. The Hindi version has also shown improvement, jumping from Rs 1.65 crore on Friday to Rs 2.8 crore on Saturday, bringing its total to Rs 4.45 crore. The Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions have remained minimal, together adding just about Rs 20 lakh over the two days.

Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, Mirai blends mythology with a modern superhero framework. Teja Sajja plays Vedha, who sets out to attain Mirai, a divine staff linked to Lord Rama in Treta Yuga. Manchu Manoj appears as the menacing antagonist Black Sword, whose hunt for nine sacred books threatens humanity’s survival. Shriya Saran, Jayaram, and Jagapathi Babu play key roles, with Gattamneni also doubling up as cinematographer and Gowra Hari handling the music.

Released pan-India in both 2D and 3D on September 12, Mirai arrived alongside Bellamkonda Sreenivas’ horror-thriller Kishkindhapuri. Despite the clash, Mirai has managed to find strong footing, especially in Telugu states.

The CE review of Mirai says, “Karthik Gattamneni’s film has grand passion, hit-and-miss visual design, but its few sparks of childlike wonder somewhat hold it together.”
