Rag Mayur, who was recently seen in Paradha, has bagged a new project. On Sunday, the actor took to social media to make it official, writing, “Attention my friendly birds, The next is the DJ Tillu director’s next! Yes, working with the creator of Tillu. Vimal Krishna! Produced by @RajivChilaka, the creator of iconic Chhota Bheem.”

With that one cheeky post, Rag Mayur confirmed he’s stepping into a film helmed by Vimal Krishna, the writer-director who burst onto the scene with 2022’s runaway comedy DJ Tillu. Krishna’s debut, fronted by Siddhu Jonnalagadda, became an instant cult hit for its offbeat humour and irreverent characters, but the director surprised many by vanishing from the scene soon after.

Now, after a hiatus, Krishna is back at the helm, this time with Chilaka Productions. The production house, led by Rajiv Chilaka of Chhota Bheem fame, had recently teased the collaboration with a tongue-in-cheek announcement video. The clip cleverly mixed snippets from interviews of the director with classic Brahmanandam memes, poking fun at how directors often promise one thing and end up delivering another.

The video also featured composer Sricharan Pakala, who ribbed the director for his laidback pace, before Krishna pitched a wild new character idea just enough to keep audiences guessing. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, insiders say the project will carry the same off-kilter tone that made DJ Tillu a success.

For Rag Mayur, the collaboration is a significant step. Known so far for ensemble-driven or supporting parts, this marks his entry into a zone where the director’s vision could play a pivotal role in shaping his on-screen identity. This untitled project also happens to be the fourth venture for Chilaka Productions, which recently backed Aa Okkati Adakku.
