There has been a lot of anticipation about Spirit, the much-awaited collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga which was announced a few years ago. While the shoot for the film is yet to commence, given Prabhas’ busy schedule, the Spirit makers gave a special surprise to Prabhas fans on the superstar’s birthday with a special ‘audio-story’ teaser of their film.

The new Spirit teaser briefly establishes its rogue protagonist, as observed by two other characters — a stern Jailer figure (Prakash Raj) and his assistant who talk about the protagonist’s complicated past, riddled with both achievements and blemishes. Even as Prakash Raj refuses to treat his new inmate — an ex-IPS officer with an attitude problem — the teaser ends with a dramatic punchline from Prabhas, who says that he has only ‘one bad habit.’ And the teaser ends on that intriguing hook.

The Spirit teaser has been suitably released in 5 languages at once — Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam, considering how the makers have mounted this film as a massive pan-India project.

Spirit is co-produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga. Meanwhile, Shiv Chanana is onboard as producer.  Besides working as a script-writer, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is also the editor for Spirit.  Sandeep also reunites with his Animal composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar for this project. Other key technicians include Raj Thota as the cinematographer and Suresh Selvarajan as the production designer. Supreme Sundar is in charge of action choreography.

Spirit also stars Vivek Oberoi, Triptii Dimri, and Kanchana. Other cast members are yet to be officially revealed. The film had become a subject of major discourse a couple of months ago when Deepika Padukone walked out of project reportedly because her terms and conditions were not met, followed by an angsty outpour by Sandeep Reddy Vanga on his social media page about the Jawan actor’s unprofessionalism.

It is not yet clear when Prabhas will begin shooting for Spirit. The actor is currently busy wrapping up work for Fauzi, his film with Hanu Raghavapudi, and The Raja Saab that will release on Sankranthi next year.
