Prabhas, whose film with Hanu Raghavapudi was officially titled Fauzi today, turns 46 today. On the occasion, the makers of his 2006 film Pournami have decided to re-release the film in theatres in Telugu-speaking states. Prabhas’ Pournami co-star Charmme Kaur penned a heartfelt note on the occasion, recalling her working experience on the film.

Taking to her X page, Charmme wrote, “Pournami, a film which is very very close to all of us, is re-releasing today on our darling Prabhas’s birthday.” Charmme fondly recalled the shooting experience, adding, “I still remember each and every moment so strong and so beautiful, one of my best memories i have with Pournami.” Charmme also shared how all the lead players in the film — including Prabhu Dheva and Trisha — continue to be close friends all these years later, adding how that’s ‘the best part of this film.”

In Pournami, Trisha played ther titular role. Meanwhile, Charmme essayed Chandrakala, Pournami’s younger sister who falls in love with a dance instructor Kesava (Prabhas), but gradually comes of age as she overcomes her reluctance and agrees to fulfil the family tradition of temple dance performance at Kesava’s behest. Directed by Prabhu Dheva, Pournami is a period musical drama, largely unfolding in the 1960s.  While the film didn’t perform upto the expectations at the box office, it won the Nandi Award that year for Best art direction.

Pournami was also the second and last collaboration between Prabhas and Charmme, after Chakram (2005). Charmme is presently active in the industry as a producer. Her next film, which she is co-producing with her husband and eminent filmmaker Puri Jagannadh, stars Vijay Sethupathi, Tabu and Samyuktha in lead cast.
