Netflix’s first-ever Telugu original series Super Subbu is back in the spotlight with a brand-new poster and a confirmed 2026 release window, teasing what could be one of the platform’s most refreshing comedies yet. Headlined by Sundeep Kishn and Mithila Palkar, the series is directed by Mallik Ram and produced by Rajiv Chilaka under Chilaka Productions.

Set in the fictional village of Maakhipur, Super Subbu follows an unlucky young teacher who’s desperate to escape his father’s tyranny only to find himself assigned to teach sex education in a traditional, virile village. The twist is that he’s a virgin himself. What is set to unfold is a delightfully awkward and heartfelt comedy about misunderstandings, self-discovery, and social taboos.

Director Mallik Ram, who last helmed the blockbuster comedy Tillu Square, said the story was born out of a simple but powerful observation. “Even today, anything about sex education is spoken about in whispers. Parents avoid it, schools skip it, and children grow up with myths,” he explained. “Through Subbu and the people of Maakhipur, I wanted to open a conversation to show how humour can make the uncomfortable easier to talk about. At its heart, Super Subbu is about community, courage, and finding light in unexpected places.”

For Mithila Palkar, the series marks a return to Telugu screens after Ori Devuda. “Super Subbu is a mix of comedy, emotions, and family bonds. It’s about chasing dreams while dealing with small-town realities,” she said, adding that the role shows her in “a completely new avatar.”

Sundeep Kishn, who leads the show as Subbu, described the project as “an untold reality.” He said, “We’re in an era where stories can be bold and real. Super Subbu celebrates the joy in simple, awkward, and human moments, it’s fresh, funny, and heartfelt.”

The series also features Murali Sharma, Maanasa Chaudhary, and Brahmanandam in key roles.
