Producer Y Ravi Shankar, who is backing Dude, along with Naveen Yerneni, has expressed confidence in Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju's upcoming film Dude, asserting that the romantic comedy will be a "super hit" upon release.
Speaking at a pre-release event in Hyderabad, he said, "I went to Chennai recently and saw Dude. It was extraordinary. This film will become a big hit and I am very confident about that. The performances of Pradeep, Mamitha and Sarath Kumar are so impressive that they are always one step ahead of each other."
He further added, "The trailer cut was made for the 'vibe' as it has a youthful content. Another interesting aspect of Dude is that the twist was new and unique. There's so much content in the film which I am sure audiences will enjoy wholeheartedly. In Tamil Nadu and the Telugu states, we've received overwhelming response for Dude."
Ravi Shankar also expressed hope for the other Telugu films releasing along with the dubbed version of Dude including Kiram Abbavaram's KRamp, Mithra Mandali and Telusu Kada. "All of them have done well. Everyone including producers and distributors will be happy in September-October month," he noted.
Apart from Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha, the cast for the film includes R Sarath Kumar, Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, Aishwarya Sharma, and Dravid Selvam, among others.
The trailer, which was released on Thursday, showed Pradeep Ranganathan's character Agan falling in love with Kural (Mamitha Baiju). But Kural isn’t keen on pursuing a romantic relationship with him. From there, the trailer shows us several cuts of Agan going through love, loss and healing until he comes to a realisation about life.
Sai Abhyankkar makes his Tamil cinema debut as a composer with Dude. The rest of the crew of the film includes Niketh Bommi as the cinematographer, Barath Vikraman as the editor, Latha Naidu as the production designer, and Yannick Ben and Dinesh Subbarayan as the stunt choreographers. Anil Yerneni serves as the co-producer. Mythri Movie Makers is the banner backing the film.
Dude is slated for release in theatres on October 17 where it will clash with Dhruv Vikram-Mari Selvaraj's Bison and Harish Kalyan's Diesel.
