Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, the iconic romantic drama starring Siddharth and Trisha, will be re-released soon. The 2005 film will hit theatres again on November 15.
Directed by Prabhu Dheva, the film revolves around a cutesy love story between a carefree NRI brat Santosh (Siddharth) and a spunky village belle Siri (Trisha), and how Siri’s love inspires Santosh to become a hard-working, self-reliant young man and win over Siri’s elder brother Sivaramakrishna (Srihari) and get his approval for their union. The story of Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana was written by Veeru Potla, while the screenplay and dialogues were penned by producer M. S. Raju and the Paruchuri brothers respectively. The film borrows liberally from popular Hindi films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kya and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, alongwith the 1996 Telugu film Ramudochadu.
Produced by M. S. Raju under Sumanth Art Productions, this was Prabhu Dheva’s directorial debut. The title is borrowed from a popular song from the 2004 film Varsham, which too starred Trisha in the lead cast. The film’s supporting cast included prominent names like Veda, Prakash Raj, Santoshi, Geetha, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Tanikella Bharani, Nanditha Jennifer, Chandra Mohan, Narsing Yadav, Ajay, and Raghu Babu.
The film was released with 90 prints, and ran for 50 days in more than 75 centres. Devi Sri Prasad’s soundtrack for the film particularly became a chartbuster, and continues to enjoy great popularity to date. Besides its phenomenal box office success, the film was also the recipient of 4 Nandi awards — Akkineni Award for Best Home-viewing Feature Film, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Female Comedian, and Best Art Director.
Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana also holds the record for inspiring the most number of remakes in Indian film industry, with a total of 9 remakes.
Interestingly, despite receiving great love for their pairing, Siddharth and Trisha worked together only once again, in the 2016 horror thriller Aranmanai 2.
