Normally, films take at least a few weeks after their theatrical run to arrive on OTT platforms. But in Raj Tarun’s case, the early digital release came as an unexpected jolt. Despite positive word-of-mouth—one of the best responses he has received in recent years—Paanch Minar turned out to be a huge box-office failure, largely due to poor promotion.
The film, however, did earn favourable reviews, with critics appreciating Raj Tarun’s performance. Many of his previous films went unnoticed, but this one managed to generate some goodwill. Paanch Minar is an entertainer set against a crime-comedy backdrop. Rashi Singh plays the female lead, with Brahmaji, Ajay Ghosh, Srinivas Reddy and Prasanna in key roles.
Now, the film has started streaming on Amazon Prime from today. What makes it more surprising is that it hit OTT just seven days after its theatrical release—something that doesn’t bode well for Raj Tarun or the makers.
Director Ramesh Kadumula had even posted on Instagram that if anyone didn’t laugh or enjoy the film, the team would refund their ticket price. Despite this, audiences still stayed away. The film is produced by Madhavi and MSM Reddy.
