The 2009 Allu Arjun starrer Arya 2 is scheduled for a theatrical re-release on April 4. Allu Arjun’s team made the announcement on Sunday. Directed by Sukumar, this film serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2004 blockbuster Arya. The film marked the second collaboration between the Pushpa director and Arjun, who went on to make four films together.

Arya 2 revolves around two orphans, Arya (Allu Arjun) and Ajay (Navdeep), who share a complex relationship marked by friendship and envy. Both characters develop feelings for their colleague, Geetha (Kajal Aggarwal), leading to a series of events that explore themes of love, obsession, and loyalty. The film is noted for its choreography and music, with Devi Sri Prasad's compositions, songs like ‘Ringa Ringa’ and ‘My Love Is Gone’, achieving significant popularity.

Upon its original release, Arya 2 received mixed reviews. While some critics praised Allu Arjun's performance and the film's technical aspects, others pointed out issues with the plot's complexity and pacing. Despite these critiques, the film has maintained a following over the years, particularly among fans of Allu Arjun.

Arya 2 has a story by Sukumar and a screenplay by T Prakash and Chandrasekhar Ramesh. B Rajasekhar served as the cinematographer, while Marthand K Venkatesh took care of editing. The film was produced by Aditya Babu and BVSN Prasad under the Aditya Arts banner.
