Rana Daggubati, who has presented some well-acclaimed films of recent times like 35 - Chinna Katha Kaadu, Krishna and His Leela, and Keedaa Cola, among others, announced his next presentation under the Spirit Media banner on Monday. The project is titled Kothapallilo Okappudu. 

Kothapallilo Okappudu marks the directorial debut for Praveena Paruchuri, who has previously produced audience favourites like C/O Kancharapalem and Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya. The film is being bankrolled in association with Praveena’s Paruchuri Praveena Vijaya Arts banner.

Billed as a love letter to Telugu cinema, Kothapallilo Okappudu will have plenty of song and dance sequences and satirical undertones, steeped in a local flavour and sense of whimsical nostalgia. “The film follows a village youth whose life takes an unexpected turn after a seemingly minor incident. What begins as a small twist of fate spirals into chaos, as local folklore, village mischief, and time-honoured traditions push him to the brink — culminating in a series of consequences neither he nor his community sees coming,” the official press release from the makers read. 

In the primary crew, LA-based cinematographer Petros Antoniadis helms the camerawork, while veteran Mani Sharma has been signed to compose music.

A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
