The trailer for Kuberaa, the upcoming social thriller directed by Sekhar Kammula, was launched at a grand event in Hyderabad on Sunday. Featuring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh in key roles, the film delves into themes of wealth, inequality and power dynamics.

The trailer of Kuberaa opens with Dhanush’s character asking, “Crores...what do you mean by crores madam?” and introduces Nagarjuna as Deepak, a government officer who says, “Only power and money work here, not justice and integrity.” The plot follows Deepak hiring Dhanush’s Deva, a homeless man, for a mission involving large sums of black money. The narrative takes a turn when Deva vanishes with Rs 10,000 crores.

The final moments of the trailer of Kuberaa show Dhanush declaring, “This world completely doesn’t belong to them madam, my world is here too... In here, there’s no money, police or anything you said. I will get my due here,” followed by Rashmika’s character asking, “What do you mean?” as the trailer builds to a crescendo of confrontations and suspense.

Kuberaa is not structured as a hero-villain story but presents a layered take on survival and identity in a corrupt system. Sekhar Kammula, known for his feel-good dramas, takes a grittier turn with this project.

Kuberaa is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP in collaboration with Amigos Creations. Technical credits include music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy, and editing by Karthika Srinivas.

With its nationwide release set for June 20, Kuberaa is billed as a socially reflective thriller, offering a different tone from Kammula’s previous works like Fidaa and Happy Days.
