The action-drama Thammudu, starring Nithiin in the lead role, is set to begin streaming on Netflix from August 1, the platform confirmed on Sunday. The action drama is going to stream in all south-Indian languages of Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film, which hit theatres on July 4, received mixed to negative reviews upon release and had a lukewarm run at the box office.

Thammudu features Nithiin as an archer who goes to a remote village, Ambaragodugu, in search of his elder sister, played by actor Laya, marking her return to Telugu cinema after a long hiatus. The story unfolds in a rural backdrop marked by a corporate kingpin’s greed for natural resources. The film focuses on the emotional core built around the sibling relationship, with most of the violence taking place in a single night.

The film's antagonist, played by Saurabh Sachdeva, is seen orchestrating a massacre that Nithiin’s character confronts. The cast also includes Sapthami Gowda, Varsha Bollamma, Swasika, Hari Teja, Srikanth Iyyengar, and Temper Vamshi in supporting roles.

Directed by Venu Sriram, Thammudu is produced by Dil Raju and Shirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film marks another collaboration between Nithiin and the production house. The music is composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath, with cinematography by KV Guhan and editing by Prawin Pudi.

The CE review of Thammudu observes, “Despite a loaded premise, Venu Sriram’s ambitious one-night thriller collapses under weak writing, tired tropes and tone-deaf melodrama.”
