The makers of Anupama Parmeswaran starrer Paradha announced August 22 as the release date for their film at an event held on Thursday. On the occasion, Anupama expressed her joy at the announcement, while also talking about the various hurdles faced by the Paradha team.
Addressing the media, Anupama said, “More than blessed and happy, we feel so relieved that the film is finally releasing. Paradha was ready nearly a year ago, but it took a lot of time to get a good release date. Everytime we considered a date, some bigger film was announced, and we would postpone thinking we wouldn’t get enough screens. It became a loop.”
Further talking about the challenges faced by Paradha makers, Anupama noted, “To tell you the truth, when it’s a film with a woman on poster, everyone backs out — be it producers, distributors, OTT, or even the audience. I am not saying it’s wrong or right, but it’s the reality - Paradha is that film that made me realise this.” It is to be noted that Anupama Parmeswaran’s last Telugu release was Tillu Square, which was a massive hit.
Talking about the ideas explored in Paradha, Anupama said, “It might not a big budget film, but it has big ideas. This is not a regular commercial movie, but has many commercial moments. Our ultimate goal is to break a big stereotype. We hope this opens door for so many more movies like Paradha.”
Directed by Praveen Kandregula, Paradha also stars Darshana Rajendran and Sangeeta Krish. Praveen is also one of the writers, sharing credits with Poojitha Sreekanti and Prahaas Boppudi. Vijay Donkada, Sreenivasulu PV, and Sridhar Makkuva have bankrolled the film under the Ananda Media banner.
Paradha will release in Telugu as well as Malayalam.
