At the pre-release event of the upcoming bilingual film Junior, director SS Rajamouli revealed that Eega is, in his view, his best film to date. The event, held ahead of the film’s theatrical release on July 18, featured Rajamouli as the chief guest and saw a candid moment during a Q&A with host Suma.

Rajamouli gave a one-word response to each picture from his career that was shown on a big screen. Rajamouli simply said, "Eega, my best film," when the film appeared.  Given that directors frequently refrain from ranking their work, the filmmaker's openness stood out.

Eega, which was released in 2012 and starred Nani, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Sudeep, was about a man who gets resurrected as a housefly to get revenge. It received both critical and commercial acclaim for its storytelling and creative use of cutting-edge special effects. Many people believe that the film, which was produced by Sai Korrapati and D Suresh Babu, played a part in establishing Rajamouli's approach to storytelling across the country.

Rajamouli also discussed the criticism he received in his early career for concentrating only on mass-action movies. In response to such criticism, he referenced the sports drama Sye, which is set against the backdrop of college rugby. "Many people said I could only do mass films after Simhadri," he remarked. "I tried to prove otherwise with Sye."

Rajamouli is currently working on SSMB29, a big-budget adventure starring Mahesh Babu. Filming is underway.

Junior, directed by Radhakrishna Reddy, marks the debut of Kireeti Reddy and features Sreeleela in the lead, with Ravichandran and Genelia Deshmukh in key roles. Produced by Sai Korrapati under Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram, the film will release in Kannada and Telugu languages on July 18. The cinematography is by KK Senthil Kumar, known for his frequent collaborations with Rajamouli.
