Sony LIV has unveiled the teaser for its upcoming original Telugu political series Mayasabha: The Rise of the Titans, which premieres on August 7. Set in the political landscape of the mid-1990s in united Andhra Pradesh, the series is a fictionalised drama inspired by real-life events and political figures. The teaser introduces a rivalry between two friends-turned-political adversaries and sets the tone for a character-driven exploration of power, loyalty, and ambition.

Directed by Deva Katta and Kiran Jay Kumar, Mayasabha follows the story of Kakarla Krishnama Naidu (played by Aadhi Pinisetty) and MS Rami Reddy (played by Chaitanya Rao), two rising leaders from opposing political camps. The two characters are based on AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the late YS Rajashekhara Reddy. The series delves into their evolving dynamic, from friendship to political rivalry, as they navigate complex alliances, party politics, and personal conflicts. Divya Dutta plays a key role as Iravati Basu.

Mayasabha’s teaser further shows the tense political standoff with senior NTR, where the Chief Minister plans to expel 35 MLAs, setting the stage for internal conflict. Naidu faces challenges within his own party and family, while Reddy offers cryptic support, stating, “War is your Dharma.” The narrative explores how personal relationships are tested by political compulsions.

Mayasabha is produced by Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni and Sree Harsha under Hitmen & Proodos Productions LLP. Creator Deva Katta, known for acclaimed gritty dramas like Prasthanam, and Republic, addressed the row around the show’s political tone. He wrote on X: “Stay tuned for a universal and ecstatic human experience beyond Prasthanam… irrespective of which party or demigod you worship!”

The show will stream in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam on Sony LIV.
