As 8 Vasantalu, the Telugu coming-of-age drama directed by Phanindra Narsetti, begins streaming on Netflix from July 11, the filmmaker has announced that he will release the film’s original script online. In a post shared via his private Instagram page, Narsetti encouraged viewers who appreciated the film’s writing to explore the longer screenplay version, originally titled 12 Vasantalu.

The film, which was released theatrically on June 20, follows Shuddi Ayodhya (Ananthika Sanilkumar) across eight years of her life, from age 19 to 27, as she navigates love, heartbreak, personal dreams, and societal expectations. Narsetti revealed that the initial script spanned 12 years of the character’s journey and included characters and events that were eventually excluded from the final cut.

“Very soon, I’ll put the whole script ‘12 Vasantalu’ as a PDF. What you have seen in 8 Vasantalu is nothing compared to what Shuddi will undergo in 12 Vasantalu,” Narsetti wrote. He noted that key characters like Ista, Umar, Ramu, and Mamata were omitted, along with emotionally charged sequences involving a major accident, a cancer diagnosis, and a powerful second-half confrontation with the character Varun.

8 Vasantalu is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers. The film features music by Hesham Abdul Wahab and cinematography by Vishwanath Reddy. This marked Narsetti’s return to feature filmmaking after previous independent projects such as Backspace, Madhuram, and Manu. While its theatrical run faced competition from Kuberaa, the Netflix release is expected to bring the film to a broader audience.
