Netflix has announced that 8 Vasantalu, the Telugu-language coming-of-age drama starring Ananthika Sanilkumar, will premiere on the platform from July 11. The film was released theatrically on June 20.

Written and directed by Phanindra Narsetti, 8 Vasantalu follows the journey of its central character, Shuddi Ayodhya, across eight years of her life, from age 19 to 27. The narrative explores themes of love, heartbreak, family pressures, and personal ambition.

Ananthika Sanilkumar, who gained attention through MAD (2023), plays the lead role. The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner. Cinematography is handled by Vishwanath Reddy, and the music is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab.

8 Vasantalu marked the return of director Phanindra Narsetti, who previously made independent films such as Backspace (2012), Madhuram (2014), and the crowd-funded Manu (2018). The film received mixed to negative reception at the box office.

The CE Review of 8 Vasantalu notes, “Phanindra Narsetti’s drama aches to be deep, but drowns in its own poetic excess and articulative obsession”
