Actor Suriya is reportedly set to headline his first direct Telugu film under the direction of Venky Atluri. While he had previously played a key role in Rakta Charitra 2, this will be his first Telugu film as the main lead.

Director Venky Atluri, known for films such as SIR and Lucky Baskhar, has reportedly finalised the project with Suriya. The film is set to be produced by Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainments banner, with filming expected to begin in May. The technical crew from Lucky Baskhar is set to return for this venture. Reports suggest the film's story is based on the invention of an automobile engine.

Suriya is expected to commence work on this project as soon as he completes his current film with RJ Balaji. In addition, reports suggest that he is in early discussions with director Chandoo Mondeti, who recently made Thandel, for another Telugu film, which is expected to be produced by Allu Aravind’s Geetha Arts. 

Meanwhile, Suriya awaits the release of his upcoming gangster thriller, Retro directed by Karthik Subbaraj, which is releasing on May 1.
