Senior actor Sivaji made controversial remarks about actresses’ dressing sense on Monday evening while attending the pre-release event of his upcoming film Dhandoraa, in which he plays a key role. While speaking at the event, he praised the film, its team members, and also complimented anchor Sravanthi Chokkarapu for her presentation and attire, saying her dressing sense was “very good.”

From there, Sivaji went on to share his views on the way some actresses dress. Without naming anyone in particular, he appealed to heroines to dress modestly. “I request all heroines not to wear revealing outfits. Please wear sarees or dresses that cover the body fully. Beauty lies in complete attire or a saree, not in displaying physical assets,” he said.

Continuing his comments, Sivaji stated that while some people may smile outwardly at revealing outfits, they may feel uncomfortable internally. “People may not openly say anything because they feel it is your freedom, but inside they may not like it,” he added.

The actor compared women to nature and spoke emotionally about respect. “A woman is like nature. When nature is beautiful, we respect it. A woman is like my mother, whom I hold close to my heart,” he said. He cited legendary actresses Savitri and Soundarya as examples, noting that they looked graceful while wearing sarees. From the present generation, he mentioned Rashmika Mandanna for her dressing sense. “They created an impact through their attire, which is why I can name them,” he said.

Sivaji acknowledged that his remarks might invite criticism and trolling, especially from women. “Freedom is precious — don’t lose it. People will respect you based on your conduct. Glamour should have limits; it should not cross a certain line,” he remarked.

He further added that many beauty pageant winners have worn sarees while winning international titles. Sivaji concluded by saying that although some may feel angry with his views, believing that dressing is a matter of personal freedom, he still wanted to make his appeal.
