Akhil Akkineni has been awaiting a strong commercial break. After Agent, which turned out to be a major box-office failure in 2023, the actor took a long gap before starting his next project. He is currently shooting for Lenin, directed by Murali Krishna Abburu.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Akhil met director Prashanth Neel at Jr NTR’s residence. The two are said to have discussed a story idea, and if things fall into place, they may collaborate on a film. Although it is too early to confirm anything, both appear to be interested in working together.

Akhil made his debut as a lead hero with Akhil in 2015 and has acted in about five films over the last ten years. His career slowed down considerably after Agent, which received a lot of criticism. The action-packed spy drama, resultantly, failed to connect with the audience.

Now, Akhil is pinning all his hopes on Lenin, a Rayalaseema fiction drama currently in production. The shoot has faced multiple setbacks since it began; a major set constructed for the film was destroyed due to the heavy rains that hit Telangana a couple of months ago. The team has since rebuilt the set.

Additionally, some portions featuring Sreeleela had already been filmed, but since she exited the project, the unit now has to reshoot those scenes with Bhagyashri Borse. The budget, already on the higher side, has reportedly increased further due to these obstacles, and the prolonged schedule means the film is unlikely to release before 2026.

Meanwhile, Prashnath Neel is busy with Jr NTR film and once he completed it, then he may join Akhil Akkineni, says the reports.
