Remember actor Nandamuri Kalyan Chakravarthy, who played lead roles in films such as Inti Donga, Thalambralu, Akhintalu, and Donga Kapuram, along with several other Telugu films? The actor stepped away from the industry and settled in Chennai after the passing of his father, Trivikrama Rao. Kalyan Chakravarthy is the son of NTR’s brother Trivikrama Rao and the nephew of Telugu cinema legend NT Rama Rao.
After nearly 35 years, Kalyan Chakravarthy is making a return with a key role in the upcoming film Champion. Senior actor Srikanth’s son Roshan is playing the lead in the film, with Anaswara Rajan as the female lead. In a recently released video, the makers revealed that Kalyan will be seen as Raji Reddy in the film, marking his reappearance on screen after more than three decades.
Kalyan Chakravarthy’s father, Trivikrama Rao, co-produced several films with his brother NT Rama Rao. Kalyan made his debut in 1986 with Kodi Ramakrishna’s Athagaru Swagatham and tasted success with Thalambralu in 1987. He went on to act in nearly 15 films. However, tragedy struck when his younger brother Harish Chakravarthy passed away in an accident, in which their father was also severely injured.
To take care of his injured father, Kalyan stepped away from the film industry and settled in Chennai. After his father’s passing, he continued to look after the family business. Now, after 35 years, he is making his comeback with Champion, directed by Pradeep Advaitam. The film is being produced by Ashwini Dutt under the prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies banner, along with his daughter’s banner, Swapna Cinema.
Champion is a sports drama and is set to release on December 25.
