Sudheer Babu’s first bilingual project Jatadhara is tentatively scheduled to release in late 2025. The film, billed as a mythological thriller, also marks the Telugu debut for Sonakshi Sinha. On Thursday, the makers released a new character poster of their film, featuring Shilpa Shirodkar.

Largely known for her work in Hindi movies and TV shows, Shilpa Shirodkar will be seen playing an evil and greedy magiciain named Shobha in Jatadhara. “She isn’t just driven by greed, she defines it,” the makers captioned her new character poster where Shobha could be seen practicing tantrik magic, appearing in a ‘raudra’ avatar to diminish the protagonist.

A few days ago, the Jatadhara makers had unveiled Divya Khosla Kumar poster. Directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, Jatadhara also stars Divya Vijay in the primary cast. The film is being produced under the banners of Zee Studios and Ess Kay Gee Entertainments by Umesh Kumar Bansal, Shivin Narang, Aruna Agarwal, Prerna Arora, Shilpa Singhal and Nikhil Nanda. The teaser, unveiled earlier this month, sets the tone for the narrative by presenting Sudheer Babu’s character as a figure of sacrifice, while Sonakshi Sinha’s portrayal of the demonic goddess Dhanapisachini embodies greed.

After a launch announcement in August last year, the shooting for the film officially commenced in February 2025, with many prominent film personalities like Harish Shankar, Venky Atluri, and Mohana Krishna Indraganti gracing the muhurtham ceremony.

Shilpa Shirodkar has been part of some major multi-starrer hits in the early 90s like Aankhen, Gopi Kishen, Khuda Gawah, and Hum. After a sabbatical of nearly 15 years, the actor returned to acting with some big roles in hindi TV shows. However, Shilpa hasn’t acted in a major film in nearly 25 years — Jatadhara promises to be her big comeback to the big screen. Shilpa Shirodkar is also the younger sister of actor Namrata Shirodkar, Mahesh Babu’s wife.
