Teju Ashwini to play Sakhi in Shiva Kandukuri’s Chai Waala

A few days ago, the makers of Shiva Kandukuri’s next film Chai Waala had unveiled the first look of their film, featuring Shiva and Rajeev Kanakala in the poster. On Monday, the team released the character poster for its female lead Teju Ashwini.

Teju Ashwini plays a young woman named Sakhi in Chai Waala. Taking to his X page, Shiva penned alongwith the character poster announcement, “The warmth in our Chai cups! Introducing the beautiful Teju Ashwini. Super excited for you all to meet our ‘Sakthi’ in theatres very soon!” The team also shared that a teaser announcement date would be made soon. In the first look poster released a few days ago, the film promises to be a heartwarming father-son drama. 

Chai Waala is written and directed by Pramod Harsha. Imran Siddique has penned the screenplay.  Radha Vijaya Lakshmi has produced the film under Harshika Productions, and Venkat R Papudippu is credited as the co-producer. The film is billed as a Prashanth R Vihaari musical. Kranthi Virla is the cinematographer, and Supriya Battepati is the production designer. Editing is by Pavan Narava. Eswar Panti is the choreographer. 

Teju Ashwini has worked in films like Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Enna Solla Pogirai and Blackmail. Meanwhile, Shiva Kandukuri’s previous solo theatrical release was Bhootoddam Bhaskar Narayana, which released in March 2024. He also played a cameo in Sharwanand starrer Manamey.
