The trailer of Constable Kanakam, an upcoming ETV Win original series, was unveiled on Friday, offering a folk-inspired take on a rural mystery. The series, led by Varsha Bollamma in the title role, is set to premiere on August 14 and the first episode is available for free.

Opening with a folk tale, the trailer likens the village setting to a jungle populated by archetypes, the lion, the fox, the wolf, before introducing the deer, a symbol for Kanakam (Varsha Bollamma), the new constable in town. Initially portrayed as vulnerable and out of place, Kanakam is gradually shown confronting the obstacles around her, culminating in a turn where she takes control of the story and emerges as its central force.

Constable Kanakam's plot revolves around the disappearance of women in the remote village. The final shot of the trailer depicts Kanakam as a powerful goddess, tying the mystery to the series’ folk narrative structure.

Directed by Prashanth Kumar Dimmala, Constable Kanakam also stars Megha Lekha, Rajeev Kanakala and Srinivas Avasarala. The series is produced by Kovelamudi Satya Sai Baba and Vemuri Hemanth Kumar under Meteor Entertainments, in association with ETV Win. The technical crew includes cinematographer Sriram Mukkupati, editor Madhav Kumar Gullapalli and composer Suresh Bobbili.

Launched by Chiranjeevi, the trailer release comes amid ongoing plagiarism allegations from the Constable Kanakam team against Zee5’s Viraatapalem which got a negative reception by audiences. The legal dispute is yet to be resolved.
