Sreenu Vaitla, who has made successful films like Venky, Dookudu, and Dubai Seenu, is now returning with another action entertainer, Viswam, starring Gopichand in the lead role. Ahead of the film’s release, the filmmaker spoke about the learnings from his previous film, Amar Akbar Anthony, which released in 2018 and was a box-office failure.

Speaking to online portal Great Andhra, Sreenu Vaitla stated, “Since I always knew Amar Akbar Anthony was very experimental on a conceptual level, I made it within a very reasonable budget... almost revolutionary budget.” The director further mentioned how, while the producers were happy with the production costs, adding, “When the film failed, that failure impacted me the most.”

Sreenu then spoke of his biggest realisation from the experience. “Of course, a director should always keep the producer’s interests in views. However, a film should be made primarily for theatrical success. So when I was writing Viswam, I didn’t restrict myself whatsoever and incorporated a huge scale on the writing stage itself.”

Viswam, which also stars Kavya Thapar, marks Sreenu’s first collaboration with Gopichand. The film will release theatrically on October 11, clashing with films like Maa Nanna Superhero and Janaka Aithe Ganaka.
