Varun Tej starrer Matka, which had a theatrical release earlier this month, is now gearing up for its OTT premiere. The Karuna Kumar directorial will begin streaming on Prime Video, on December 5.

Also starring Meenaakshi Chaudhary and Nora Fatehi in substantial roles, Matka told the fictional story of a refugee who lands up in Vizag and slowly becomes a powerful figure in the world of crime after deciding to become a Matka overlord. In our review for the film, we noted, “What Matka lacks substance or originality; it tries to make up for it with its pacing and constant sense of ‘packed narrative’. There is little space to breathe as the narrative moves from one event to another, brimming with either activity or sound. For its all emphasis on style and period film atmosphere, Matka is also strangely devoid of any original cinematic energy.”

GV Prakash Kumar had composed songs and background score for the film. Matka, which was jointly produced by Vyra Entertainment and SRT Entertainments, will also be available for streaming in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
