Maa Kaali to have its world premiere at IFFI 2024

Maa Kaali, written and directed by Vijay Yelakanti, is set to release on screens soon

Maa Kaali—The erased history of Bengal is an upcoming historical drama depicting events that took place in Bengal on Direct Action Day, 1946. The film is set to shed light on the persecution of the Hindu community during the partition period and the aftermath of that in Bengal. The bold historical drama is locked to have its world premiere at IFFI 2024. The film stars Raima Sen and Abhishek Singh in the lead roles. The film is said to be releasing on screens soon. 

Maa Kaali’s teaser was unveiled in July 2024. The teaser depicts all the events that led to massive bloodshed in Bengal during the partition time. The teaser has a dialogue, “They will keep preying on us until either all of us Hindus convert to Islam or die,” and shows various people being forced to convert. The teaser takes a bold and hard-hitting approach to tackle a historical event. 

Maa Kaali is written and directed by Vijay Yelakanti. The historical drama is bankrolled by TG Vishwa Prasad under the banner of People Media Factory in association with Vivek Kuchibotla. The makers are yet to announce a release date. The film is slated for release in the languages of Telugu, Hindi, and Bengali.
