Veteran actress Vijayashanthi is making a big return to Telugu cinema with the upcoming Nandamuri Kalyan Ram project, tentatively titled NKR 21. The makers of the film released a special glimpse video of the actress on Monday, on the occasion of her birthday.

Vijayashanthi plays an IPS officer named Vyjayanthi in NKR 21, paying homage to some of her most memorable works like Karthavyam, Shatruvu, and Police Lockup. The teaser is underlined with a voiceover by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, establishing the fierceness of her character, describing her as the only worthy adversary to the film’s protagonist (Kalyan Ram).

The first teaser of the film was released 4 weeks ago, which gave brief glimpses of Kalyan Ram’s protagonist figure, without fully revealing his character look.  NKR 21 is produced by Ashok Vardhan Muppa and Sunil Balusu under the banners Ashoka Creations and NTR Arts, and directed by Pradeep Chilukuri. Ajaneesh Loknath is composing music for the film. The cinematography is by Ram Prasad, while editing is by Thammiraju. Srikanth Vissa is the screenplay writer for the film.

It is to be noted that Vijayashanthi’s last on-screen appearance was in the 2020 film Sarileru Neekevvaru, marking her return after a 14-year hiatus from the movies.
