Concept artist Oliver Beck has claimed that the makers of Kalki 2898 AD used a part of his work for the animation series Star Trek: Prodigy without his permission. Beck shared the images of his matte painting for the series alongside a still from the trailer for the Prabhas starrer, directed by Nag Ashwin. He captioned the social media post, "Sad to see that some of the work I did for Star Trek: Prodigy got stolen by Vyjayanthi Movies in their trailer. This is the matte painting I did for Star Trek under direction of Ben Hibon and Alessandro Taini and then as it appears in the trailer."

This is the second major accusation against the makers of the multilingual film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, among others. Under the same post, Beck made another post with the stills of concept artist Sung Choi's work juxtaposed with a snapshot from the Kalki 2898 AD trailer. In the caption for the second post, Beck wrote, "They also stole work directly from the very talented Sung Choi."

Sharing the stills and tagging the makers of the film, Choi had earlier written, "Unauthorised use of artwork is a bad practice. I sometimes even question doing art in this lawless environment."

Vyjayanthi Movies are yet to respond to the allegations.
