It is raining female cop films in Telugu cinema. Even as Kajal Aggarwal and Payal Rajput are gearing up for their June 7 releases Satyabhama and Rakshana, respectively, there is another female cop film, Yevam, headlined by Chandini Chowdary awaiting release. The makers of the film released its official trailer on Thursday.

The Yevam trailer begins on a light note, with the film’s protagonist, Soumya (Chandini Chowdary), struggling to fit in and prove her worth in a space dominated by men. Soumya eventually falls in love with a fellow cop (Bharat Raj). However, things get serious when Soumya takes on the case of a series of killings, in which all the victims were young women. The Yevam trailer ends on an intriguing note, where Soumya, while hunting for the serial killer, seemingly falls herself into the killer’s trap as a victim.

Vasishta Simha plays the main antagonist in Yevam. Prakash Dantuluri wrote and directed the film, while Navdeep and Pavan Goparaju serve as the producers. Yevam is jointly bankrolled under the banners of CSpace and Prakash Dantuluri Productions. The music is composed by Keertana Sesh and Neelesh Mandalapu. S.V Vishweshwar is the cinematographer, and Srujana Adusumilli is the editor.

Incidentally, Yevam is not the only Chandini Chowdary release on June 14. The actor will also be seen in Music Shop Murthy, which is scheduled to release that weekend.
