Vijay Sethupathi is gearing up for the release of his upcoming social drama titled as Vidudala 2 in Telugu. During the promotion of the film, Vijay Sethupathi interacted with the media and talked about choosing the right scripts in Telugu. When asked about his involvement in Ram Charan’s next project, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, he said, “I am not in the film. Firstly, I don’t have time. I am listening to a lot of stories in Telugu. Sometimes, the story is good, but my character is not enough for me.”
He further said that if he gets the right story, he is looking forward to working in Telugu cinema. Vijay Sethupathi’s last direct Telugu film was Uppena (2021), directed by Buchi Babu Sana.
Helmed by Vetrimaaran, Vidudala Parts 1 and 2 also stars Soori in the lead role. Manju Warrier will be seen as Vijay Sethupathi's partner in the second part of the film. The second part is expected to delve more into the character of Perumal Vathiyar.
Vidudala Part 1 was released in 2023 and revolves around police brutality. The film received positive reviews and is considered one of the most hard-hitting films of Tamil cinema.
Vidudala Part 2 has cinematography handled by R. Velraj and editing by R Ramar. It is produced by Elred Kumar under the RS Infotainment banner and Vetrimaaran's Grass Root Film Company. The films were earlier screened at the Rotterdam Film Festival. The film is releasing in theatres on December 20
