Matka is the upcoming period crime drama starring Varun Tej, Norah Fatehi, and Meenakshi Chaudhary. Karuna Kumar, who previously helmed Sridevi Soda Center (2021) and Palasa 1978 (2020), is the writer and director of the crime drama. Although the movie is set in Visakhapatnam, Varun Tej will play Kingpin Vasu, based on Mumbai-born Matka King Ratan Katri. The story of the movie is supposedly set between 1958 and 1982, a gap of 24 years. The makers of the film gave an update about the film. The unit is said to be canning a massive action schedule with Varun Tej in Kakinada. 

Producing this movie under the banners of Vyra Entertainments and SRT Entertainments, respectively, are Dr. Vijender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Talluri. Naveen Chandra, Ajay Ghosh, Kannada Kishore, Ravindra Vijay, P Ravi Shankar, and other notable actors are included in the cast of Matka. The music for the film is being composed by GV Prakash Kumar, while A Kishore Kumar handled the cinematography, Karthika Srinivas R took over the editing, and Kishore Kumar Manne executed the production design.

The release date for the Varun Tej film has not yet been announced. In the meantime, Netflix is producing a biography on Matka King, directed by Nagraj Manjule, which is set to feature Vijay Varma, Kritika Kamra, Gulshan Grover, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, and others.
