Popular 2022 Malayalam movie Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey is being remade into Telugu. It is now being reported that actor-filmmaker Tharun Bhascker will play the male lead in the satirical comedy.

Directed by Vipin Das, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey told the story of Jaya (Darshana Rajendran), a demure middle-class homemaker who decides to stand up to her abusive husband (Basil Joseph), and secretly learns self-defense lessons for the same. Tharun Bhascker will reportedly reprise the role played by Basil Joseph in the original. The actor-filmmaker was last seen in the Abhinav Gomatam starrer comedy drama Masthu Shades Unnao Ra.

Some reports also state that Darshana Rajendran, who played the protagonist in the original, will make her Telugu debut with the said remake. Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, which released in October 2022, turned out to be one of the most critically acclaimed films of that year.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Vipin Das announced his next project Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil with Prithviraj and Basil Joseph in prominent roles.
