The makers of the Dulquer Salmaan starrer Lucky Baskhar released their first teaser on Thursday, alongside an update on their release plans. The upcoming heist-thriller is slated for a July 2024 release.

The plot of Lucky Baskhar is set in the 1980s Bombay.  The teaser establishes Dulquer Salmaan as a middle-class bank cashier who somehow lands up with tons of money in his bank account.  The teaser ends with Salmaan’s character breaking the fourth wall, giving an all-knowing look to the camera. Lucky Baskhar promises to be a lavishly mounted heist thriller.

It marks Dulquer’s third venture in Telugu cinema; he has earlier worked in big-scale movies like Mahanati (2022) and Sita Ramam (2022), both of which were period movies as well. The film also stars Meenakshi Chaudhary in a prominent role.

GV Prakash Kumar has composed music for the film. Nimish Ravi is the cinematographer for the film, editing is by Navin Nooli, and Balan is the art director.

Lucky Baskhar is written and directed by Venky Atluri, who last directed the 2023 Dhanush starrer Vaathi. Naga Vamsi S and Sai Soujanya have bankrolled the project under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.

The makers are planning to release their film on a pan-India scale, in the dubbed versions of Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi as well.
