Family Star is written and directed by Parsuram Petla

Abhilasha Cherukuri

We have earlier reported the makers of VD13 (also alternatively titled SVC54), have been conducting recces in America. The makers of the film have now announced on Wednesday evening that their film is now titled Family Star. A glimpse of the film has also been unveiled in Telugu and Tamil respectively.

The one-minute-long glimpse shows Vijay Deverakonda as the family man the film's title suggests, with shots of him chopping onions in the kitchen and dropping kids off at their school bus. This is quickly followed by a goon (played by Ajay Ghosh) asking Vijay if chopping onions and dropping kids is emasculating, which is followed by our protagonist declaring in the negative, while also bending a rod and beating a man to a pulp. This sequence is closed off with a shot of the film's female lead Mrunal Thakur referring to Vijay as her husband, while the latter is at a loss for words.

Family Star is written and directed by Parsuram Petla. He is reuniting with Vijay after their last film Geetha Govindam (2018). Parsuram's last film was the Mahesh Babu-Keerthy Suresh starrer Sarkaru Vaari Paata, which came out in 2022. Family Star is produced by veteran producer duo Dil Raju & Sirish under the banner Sree Venkateswara Creations. Joining the film is Parsuram's Geetha Govindam music director Gopi Sundar. KU Mohanan is the cinematographer of the film, with editing by Marthand K Venkatesh and production design by AS Prakash. Family Star is scheduled to hit theatres on Sankranti 2024.
