Music composer MM Keeravaani, during his acceptance speech after winning the Oscar Award for RRR's Naatu Naatu, fondly remembered his inspiration, The Carpenters, the American vocal band.

He sang The Carpenters' song Top of the World with tweaked lyrics to express his gratitude. "There was only one vision in my mind...So was Rajamouli’s and my family’s... RRR has to win pride of every Indian. And must put me on top of the world," he sang.

Following that, one of the singers of The Carpenters band, Richard Carpenter, took to Instagram to share a video of his family singing the tweaked version of Top of the World song to MM Keeravaani and lyricist Chrandrabose for their big win. He wrote, “To MM Keeravaani and Chandrabose: Heartfelt congratulations on your win for Best Original Song. Here is a little something from our family to you and yours.” (sic)

Meanwhile, singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava performed Naatu Naatu live at the ceremony.
