The makers of VS 11 took to social media on Monday to announce that their film is now christened Gangs of Godavari. Actor-filmmaker Vishwak Sen is the protagonist of the film, with Krishna Chaitanya directing it. Gangs of Godavari is produced by S Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under their banner Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. The film is co-produced by Venkat Uppaturi and Gopi Chand Innamuri and presented by Srikara Studios.

The first glimpse of the film, painted in sepia tones, indicates that it could be a period drama. Though the first looks of Anjali and Vishwak Sen were launched earlier in the form of standalone announcements, the glimpse unveiled today reveals that DJ Tillu-fame actor Neha Shetty will be featuring as the film's female lead. Character actors Nasser and Goparaju Ramana are also seen in the glimpse.

Yuvan Shankar Raja will be composing the music of Gangs of Godavari. The film is currently in production. Director Krishna Chaitanya was primarily working as a lyricist in the Telugu film industry, before making a transition as a director. He has previously helmed Rowdy Fellow (2014) and Chal Mohan Ranga (2018).
