After weeks of speculation in both Telugu and Tamil markets, Dil Raju, the producer of the Vijay-starrer Varisu has finally declared that the Telugu-dubbed version, Varasudu, will release on January 14. And Varisu will release on January 11, as per the schedule.

Dil Raju, the head of Sri Venkateshwara Creations, who is making his grand entry in Kollywood through Varisu has been in the news lately for his attempts to get more screens for his release and for making statements about his film's actor Vijay being better than Ajith, whose film Thunivu also hits theatres the Sankranti week. The move to release Varasudu on January 14 also makes this film lock horns with two big star releases, namely Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy. Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy are both produced by Mythri Movie Makers.

Meanwhile, Varasudu is directed by Vamshi Paidipally, who also wrote the film along with Hari and Ashishor Solomon. The film stars Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. The music of the film is composed by Thaman with Karthik Palani and Praveen KL helming the cinematography and editing departments respectively.
