NTR Jr’s Adhurs set for re-release

Abhilasha Cherukuri

Adhurs, starring NTR Jr, Nayanthara and Sheela, will be re-released on March 4 worldwide. The film also stars Brahmanandam, Rama Prabha, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sayaji Shinde, Nassar, Vinaya Prasad, Tanikella Bharani and the late MS Narayana in pivotal roles. Adhurs is directed by VV Vinayak, who has also helmed some of the most iconic, well-loved commercial films to have emerged out of the 2000s Telugu film industry, namely, Aadi (2002), Dil (2003), Tagore (2003) and Lakshmi (2006).

Adhurs is set around twin brothers (both played by NTR Jr), who get separated at birth. One Tarak is raised in an orthodox brahmin family and grows up to be a priest and the other Tarak is raised by their birth mother, becoming an undercover cop in his adulthood. The film’s plot thickens, with comedy and action taking centre stage when one brother gets confused with the other.

Adhurs is the second film of NTR Jr to have a re-release in recent times, the first film being Srinu Vaitla’s Baadshah (2013). Adhurs and Baadshah have found enduring popularity on the Telugu internet, with many of these two films’ scenes featuring veteran comedian Brahmanandam, being used as memes.

Adhurs is also considered to be one of NTR Jr’s most popular films, with the film prominently showcasing the actor’s range and skill at comedy.
